Scam Calls

What is Scan Calls?

Scam calls are fraudulent phone calls where fraudster pose as trusted organisations—such as banks, government agencies, or service providers to trick you into sharing sensitive information or making payments.

Common Types of Scam Calls:

Impersonation Scams: Fraudster claim to be from your bank, police, or tax department, demanding immediate action.

Prize or Lottery Scams: Promises of winning cash or prizes, requiring upfront payments or personal details.

Tech Support Scams: Fake support agents claim your device has a virus and request remote access.

Debt Collection Scams: Threatening calls claiming unpaid bills or taxes.

What You Should Do:

1. Hang up immediately on suspicious or pressured calls. Redial official numbers yourself.

2. Enable call-blocking features or apps like Truecaller, or use your phone's spam-block settings to reduce disturbance.

3. Report scam calls to your telecom provider or relevant authority.

4. Set up a secret safe word with loved ones to validate their identity during urgent calls.

5. Avoid sharing private information or granting access during unfamiliar calls, official institutions will never request for private information like passwords or PIN number.
