Investment Scams

What are Investment Scams?

Investment scams involve fraudsters convincing victims to invest in fake opportunities, such as stocks, real estate, or cryptocurrencies, with promises of high returns.

Common Signs of Investment Scams:

Guaranteed Returns: Promises of high profits with little to no risk.

Unlicensed Companies: Investment firms without proper accreditation.

Pressure to Invest Quickly: Scammers create urgency to prevent you from researching.

Unsolicited Offers: Calls or messages offering exclusive investment opportunities.

What You Should Do:

1. Verify Credentials: Use regulator directories to confirm licenses or registration before engaging.

2. Do your Research: Search  the company and individuals online. Check for negative reviews, news or scam alerts.

3. Refuse High-Pressure Tactics: Legitimate opportunities will not rush you. Avoid offers that demand urgent decisions or investments.

4. Avoid Untraceable Methods: Be suspicious of requests for crypto, gift cards, or wiire transfers. Legitimate firms typically accept traceable payment methods.

5. Be Wary of Social Media Promotions and Fake Endorsements: Scammers often use DeepFake videos, fake testimonials and social ads to project legitimacy. Verify endorsements independently.
