This year, Malaysians will need to stretch our creativity and ingenuity to make sure that we still keep up the spirit and generosity of Hari Raya to fill these holidays with blessings, happiness and celebration.

Throughout the nation, we are being asked to scale-down our celebration of Hari Raya Aidilfitri this year to protect our families and friends to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. Household gatherings may not exceed 20 people, limited to only family members, who must all maintain safe social distancing and avoid salam, hugging and kissing one another.

As we gather to celebrate Hari Raya, protecting our elderly and those with compromised health must be among our top concerns.

It’s the year of e-Duit Raya

One of the most fun Hari Raya traditions is the giving and receiving of Duit Raya. With family and friends out of reach, now is the time to bring this practice into the digital era with e-Duit Raya.

Across Malaysia, you can send e-Duit Raya via fund transfer through CIMB Clicks or through DuitNow. CIMB Clicks Instant Transfer lets you immediately send funds to an account at any bank in Malaysia with no transfer charges.

If you don’t know the recipient’s bank account number, then use DuitNow which lets you instantly transfer funds using just their mobile phone number – and for free too!

If you make a qualifying fund transfer via DuitNow using CIMB Clicks between now and 31 July 2020 you will collect entries into CIMB’s TapTapMenang contest and have a chance to win cash prizes*. You can also collect entries by using CIMB Clicks for bill payments, JomPAY, FPX and CIMB QR Pay transactions.

If you have family and friends who are overseas, you can send e-Duit Raya to many countries around the world using CIMB SpeedSend. Not only will your loved ones receive the full amount transferred, but until the end of 2020, there are zero fees for sending money through CIMB SpeedSend.**

Pay your Zakat Fitrah from home

If you live in Wilayah Perseketuan or Kedah, you can fulfil your Zakat Fitrah obligation using CIMB QR Pay that’s available on the CIMB Clicks app. In just 3 easy steps you can pay your state Zakat authority from the safety of your home. Do remember to pay your Zakat Fitrah before Hari Raya prayers.

Do your Hari Raya shopping online

Shopping is a lot of fun. This year CIMB is bringing this experience into your home with Malaysia’s most happening e-bazaar, Bazar Siberturahim CIMB, that’s running from now until 31 July 2020.

Bazar Siberturahim CIMB curates many exclusive Hari Raya deals for CIMB Malaysia debit, credit and prepaid cardholders. You can enjoy deals for personal care products from Sa Sa and The Face Shop, fashion from Binwani’s and Dudalina, to name just a few of the bargains you can find. Check out all of CIMB’s exclusive Hari Raya deals here.

Bazar Siberturahim CIMB also features recipes from Chef Dato’ Ismail, baju Raya fashion tips from Datuk Radzuan Radziwill, and so much more. Watch this video to find out more about Bazar Siberturahim CIMB and get some great ideas about how you can add that something extra to your celebrations.

Share food and teach your favourite recipes

We Malaysians love our food and every family has a special dish that they prepare during festive holidays. This Hari Raya we can continue to practice that spirit of generosity and share our delicious food with our families while staying safe in our own homes. The easiest way to do this is to cook the food and then have it delivered to various family and friends through services like Grab Delivery, GoGet or Mr Speedy.

If your family lives too far away to deliver food, then teach them how to make your special dish themselves. Use video conferencing over Zoom or Skype to teach far-off family and friends how to spice up their Hari Raya. Better still, record your lesson and post it on YouTube so that everyone can share in the festive cheer.

Reach out to those who cannot visit their families

This Hari Raya, many Malaysians won’t be able to visit their families, and some may even be spending the holidays alone. Reach out to them and include them in your Hari Raya celebrations. Pack a complete meal and send it to them, call them on Hari Raya so that their day is still filled with the company of loved ones. You can take things up to the next level by using Zoom or Skype to include them as a virtual guest at your family dinner.

Hari Raya is a special time for all Malaysians. Let’s find ways to continue our traditions and festive celebrations and remember to put safety first and protect our most vulnerable.
